The article, titled "[Developing a sustainability literacy test for engineering students,](https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11625-011-0132-6)" discusses the need for sustainability education in engineering programs. The authors argue that engineers play a critical role in developing sustainable solutions to environmental, social, and economic problems. However, traditional engineering education often lacks a focus on sustainability. To address this gap, the authors developed a sustainability literacy test for engineering students, which assesses knowledge and understanding of sustainability concepts. The test was administered to a sample of engineering students and showed significant gaps in their understanding of sustainability, particularly in relation to social and economic sustainability. These findings suggest a need for increased focus on sustainability education in engineering programs. The authors suggest that incorporating sustainability into engineering education can better prepare students to address sustainability challenges in their future careers.
