[Design thinking for practice-based intervention: Co-producing the change points toolkit to unlock (un)sustainable practices](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0142694X19300882)
There are a number of exercises that help position design thinking as a method to bring in sustainability consideration to the process. Design Thinking provides immersive participatory methods for intervention planning.
According to this article, the toolkit is one of the first resources that enables practitioners to operationalize social practice theories without substantial prior engagement or training.
#### Exercises
- **Exercise 1: problem scoping:** reflect on the sustainability challenge they will address
- **Exercise 2: change points**: rather than focusing on individuals or their tightly defined behaviours, connections between practices are prioritised
- **Exercise 3: recognising diversity**: highlight diversity that exists in everyday routine without reverting to the use of socioeconomic proxies
- **Exercise 4: influence mapping**: discussion around the distributed actors (human and non-) involved in directing and pacing processes of change
- **Exercise 5: reframing**: discussion towards the possibility of developing creative solutions
- **Exercise 6: ideas into action**: increase commitment to the proposed initiatives and sup- port users in identifying the practical steps towards implementation.
