#course
This is a course developed and run by [Steffen Farny](https://www.leuphana.de/en/institutes/centre-for-sustainability-management-csm/persons/steffen-farny.html) of the Leuphana University Luneburg.
An interesting aspect of the course is that students need to decide or will be assigned to one actor profile. The profiles are as follows:
1. **Consultant for sustainable venturing**
>By choosing the consultant profile, the student learns to act as a consultant for NewCo Helsinki, analysing one of several challenges provided by the client organization, related to the situation of social integration for immigrants moving to Helsinki and Finland in general. The focus of the consultant profile is to collect reliable information for addressing the challenge provided by NewCo, and write up the main insights in form of a short consulting report. In small teams, the student-consultants are expected to work on the novel topic of ‘entrepreneurship oriented integration’. The consultancy report has to include topics introduced in the course, such as the evaluation of the sustainability opportunity, the market, cultural and legal environment for starting a business, and the required practical steps for implementation. The theoretical knowledge for conducting this assignment will be provided in-class. The results will be shared and discussed with course participants and interested stakeholders on the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Day.
2. **Sustainable entrepreneurship researcher**
>By choosing the researcher profile, the student will apply qualitative research methods to analyse existing data on established sustainable entrepreneurs as well as on potential entrepreneurs in challenging contexts. The teaching team will therefore provide two existing data sets: data from the EU-InnovatE Sustainable Entrepreneurship research project and from the teaching team’s own ongoing research project on enterprising activities in an ecovillage near Turku. In small teams, the student-researchers are expected to formulate a relevant research question, develop a suitable theoretical frame, apply a qualitative data analysis method, execute the research with a small number of interviews, identify the main results and compose a short research summary. The focus of the researcher profile is to analyse interview data on entrepreneurship, sustainability and alternative forms of organizing in Europe. The results will be shared and discussed with course participants and interested stakeholders on the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Day.
3. **Sustainability-oriented entrepreneur**
>By choosing the entrepreneur profile, the student will (a) either work on his/her already existing/emerging business start-up (note: students can continue working on the same business model as in the Venture Ideation course), or (b) work closely together with the Shortcut. The Shortcut, a volunteer-based start-up ecosystem, helps people discover and nurture their talents and aspirations to create or work for high growth companies. The mission is to inspire and empower people from diverse backgrounds to take an active role in (re)building their future, using technology and entrepreneurship. The Shortcut is a non-profit sister organisation to SLUSH and Startup Sauna. Following this, the main focus of the entrepreneur profile is to demonstrate entrepreneurial behaviour where the student(s) is/are expected to evaluate and develop their established social impact bond programme. The results will be shared and discussed with course participants and interested stakeholders on the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Day.
4. **Additional option: Actor-profile designed by the student**
>By choosing the flexible actor profile, students need to suggest his/her actor profile assignment to the teaching team. To get the flexible profile assignment approved, the student(s) needs to argue for the suitability and relevance for sustainable entrepreneurship, as well as the potential contribution to the final sustainable entrepreneurship event.
